Menos es Mas en Poco: AYCD Brunch at Poco NYC

Less is more at Poco in the East Village.. and there was more of everything here!   Particularly more people waiting to eat here than almost anywhere else.  I have been trying to get reservations at Poco’s all-inclusive Brunch for over a month, and I finally had a chance to try this trendy restaurant!  But unfortunately,  we had a reservation for 2 PM and we didn’t get seated until 2:40.  But overall, it was worth the wait.

Poco AYCD Brunch.. Keep your Pants on

Review:
Other than the wait, and crappy service, everything about Poco was wonderful.  The hostess was extremely helpful, nice and polite.  She helped us get our food and booze out quickly because some of our friends had to catch a flight.  After reading all of the wonderful reviews about this place, our table made sure we all ordered something different so we can each try everything!

Lobster Mac n Cheese: To die for.  Literally, amazing.  The melt-in-your-mouth dish was incredible. The dish includes manchego, parmesan, asiago cheese & shell pasta topped w/ crunchy panko.  The lobster was plentiful and everyone at the table kept sneaking bites.  I would come back just for the mac.. For more on just the mac see MacLovin’ (mac n cheese review blog, with yours truly as the guest blogger)

Salmon Benedict: Poached egg and salmon atop the most moist and delicious arepa.  I had the hollandaise sauce on the side.

Salmon BLT: Delicious to the last bite.   The surprising Guac on the sandwich made it even better!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Minus the bacon, was delish!

All of the food was tasty and perfectly filling.  The side of potatoes were great, and nothing needed extra seasoning.. or anything!  Even the side of mesclun greens was perfected.

Now the drinks:  One of the BEST Bloody Mary’s in NYC.  This was the perfect mixture of tomato, horseradish and vodka.  Not to mention, I love olives in my bloody’s.  Even the blood orange mimosa was extremely tasty!  The only sub-par drink was the Frothie Coffee.  It tasted like there was no booze in it whatsoever.

Last Call: I will definitely visit Poco again, but either before 12:30 or after 3 PM.  There is a reason the wait is so long, and it is because the food an ambiance is so great.  All of the food was clearly crafted to perfection and the drinks were all tasty.  I definitely recommend the lobster mac n cheese, and the salmon benedict.

Brunch Score: 4 out of 5 mimosas
